HULU LANGAT, May 13 — Sungai Gabai Waterfall has been chosen as a pet project under the Gagasan Rumpun Selangor (GRS) 2.0 as it has the potential to help local residents earn via the tourism sector.
Dusun Tua assemblyman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz expressed his gratitude for Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah’s visit to the site today to see the redevelopment potential for the popular tourist attraction.
Johan said that before the 2021 water surge tragedy, Sungai Gabai Waterfall was a hotspot for local and foreign tourists thanks to its natural beauty.
“This area will be restored in phases and reopened. God willing, soon, Sungai Gabai will (gain a new facade).
“When it is restored, it will allow local residents, traders to operate again. We hope this restoration project encompasses basic facilities including carparks,” he added.

Sungai Gabai Waterfall is 12 storeys high and has 336 steps to the hilltop, while the surrounding picnic area features large rocks and limited space.
Previously, Tengku Amir Shah spent around 30 minutes visiting the waterfall, which is under the gazetted Gombak-Hulu Langat Geopark.
His Highness was accompanied by state executive councillor for rural development and unity Datuk Rizam Ismail and state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
Earlier, Tengku Amir Shah visited SK Dusun Tua and had breakfast with its students and teachers at the school canteen.
His Highness then visited Kilang Bahulu Classiq in Kampung Jawa, Batu 18, to witness the handover of a RM20,000 contribution, meant for buying business equipment, to factory owner Nur Adeeba Ibrahim.
