SUBANG JAYA, May 28 — A total of 1,474 dengue fever cases have been recorded within the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) administrative area up to Epidemiological Week 19 this year, with five localities identified as outbreak hotspots.
The affected localities are USJ 3/2, Taman Pinggiran USJ 2, Taman Sungai Besi Indah (Flat Lama), Taman Bukit Serdang 5 and Batu 13 Kampung Tengah A.
Mayor Dato’ Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said MBSJ, together with relevant agencies, has intensified control operations including inspections for Aedes breeding grounds, larvicide spraying and fogging in the affected areas.
“These measures are being implemented continuously to curb the spread of dengue, especially in high-risk areas,” he said during the MBSJ Full Council Meeting on Tuesday.
He also urged residents to play their part by practising the ‘Search and Destroy’ approach, activating community clean-up programmes and seeking immediate treatment if they experience fever symptoms.
According to him, MBSJ will continue strengthening monitoring and control measures to ensure the outbreak can be effectively contained.
