SUBANG JAYA, May 27 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will carry out maintenance works on about 15,000 trees across its administrative areas beginning this year to reduce the risk of falling trees and broken branches that could endanger public safety.

Its mayor Dato' Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said the initiative is being undertaken proactively to ensure trees in urban areas remain safe and properly maintained, especially during unpredictable weather conditions and the monsoon season.

“For the year 2026, a total of RM5.2 million has been allocated for tree maintenance works involving approximately 15,000 trees throughout the MBSJ administrative area.

“The implementation will be carried out in stages over six months, beginning from May 2 until November 1,” he said during the council’s full board meeting yesterday.

Amirul added that the maintenance works would be conducted in phases at selected locations to ensure smooth operations without disrupting the comfort of road users and local residents.

"The continuous effort is crucial in preventing unwanted incidents such as fallen trees, which could pose a threat to public safety and cause damage to property," he said.

Additionally, MBSJ also expressed appreciation to Subang Jaya residents for their cooperation and understanding throughout the implementation of the maintenance works.

The initiative is expected to strengthen its commitment to ensuring Subang Jaya remains a safe, green, sustainable, and liveable city.
