SUBANG JAYA, May 26 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will begin a targeted operation to seize properties over outstanding assessment tax payments starting this June, focusing on commercial and business premises with high arrears.
Its mayor Dato' Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said the move is being carried out in accordance with the Local Government Act 1976 to ensure property owners fulfil their responsibility of paying taxes to support the continuity of city services.
"The initial phase of the operation will involve commercial and business properties with outstanding assessment tax payments exceeding RM10,000.
“This operation is being carried out to ensure compliance with assessment tax payments among property owners, particularly commercial and business premises with high arrears,” he said during the MBSJ full board meeting yesterday.
Amirul also expressed appreciation to the councillors and the Residents Representative Council for helping to disseminate information about the operation to property owners.
MBSJ advised property owners with overdue payments to settle their arrears immediately to avoid seizure action.
