SHAH ALAM, May 25 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, remains committed to support athlete development, including by helping them compete at the international level.
National boxer Aiman Hisyam Abu Bakar said Yayasan MBI’s support has helped him with his career, including, most recently, at a championship in the Philippines.
The recipient of a RM20,000 contribution said this isn’t the first time he has received such aid, as MBI has consistently supported athletes.
“MBI has been very helpful and supportive of my career, until I could compete abroad, (including) in the Philippines.
“I’m aiming to become a world champion after this and make history for Malaysia,” Aiman Hisyam told Media Selangor after receiving Yaysan MBI’s aid during a ceremony at Bangunan Daruk Ehsan here today.

Meanwhile, para golfer Harris Abu Bakar, who received a RM3,000 contribution, said para golf still lacks popularity in Malaysia, but his fighting spirit persists.
He said he started para golf after he was involved in a car crash in 2008, which left him with only one arm with which to golf.
“Before my accident, I did play golf, so it was challenging to be forced to use only one hand now… but I am still (golfing) because I have the interest. I also compete a lot in Japan and Turkey. Thank you to MBI for supporting my sports journey,” he said.

For shuttler Putree Nadhira Adliana Muhamad Mizan Adli, the RM3,000 she received from Yayasan MBI will support her badminton journey.
The 11-year-old, who started playing badminton at nine, said the sport teaches her discipline as she has to train for an hour every day from 5.30am.
“I am grateful for MBI because it helps (facilitate) my career in badminton, since badminton needs a high cost.
“God willing, my target in this sport is to become the number one player in Malaysia and the world,” Putree Nadhira Adliana said.
