SHAH ALAM, May 2 — The Kuala Selangor District Education Office (PPD) has emerged the state’s best-performing PPD with a 95.16 per cent Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) pass rate and a 4.27 District Grade Average — the second best in Selangor.
Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the achievement reflects the success of education interventions like the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme for Forms 4 and 5 students.
He added that Kuala Selangor PPD’s success disproves claims that the tuition programme is less accessible in rural areas, instead showing that PTRS’ comprehensive approach significantly improves student performance.
“This is proof that although part of Kuala Selangor could be in rural areas, improving internet access and our interventions, PTRS and also programmes by the State Education Department (JPN) have successfully improved SPM achievements.
“I’m confident that the PTRS we run is actually successful, and the achievement is proven based on the SPM 2025 achievements for Kuala Selangor district,” he told Media Selangor when commenting on Permatang assemblyman Nurul Syazwani Noh’s statement that PTRS doesn’t reach rural areas due to internet constraints.
Azri added that in the district, SMK Kuala Selangor and SMK Pengkalan Permatang each have 84 students registered on the online PTRS platform (e-PTRS), while SMK Tiram Jaya has 45 students on e-PTRS.
He said that besides modules and online classes on e-PTRS, all Forms 4 and 5 students receive printed modules for eight major subjects.
“Teachers also encourage (students) to make PTRS modules their additional learning material,” he said.
According to him, Yayasan MBI will act as a facilitator for areas with poor internet access, including by channelling information to agencies like the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Previously, Azri said MBI has received letters of appreciation from Selangor JPN for three consecutive years over PTRS’ effectiveness in boosting the state’s SPM results.
He added that PTRS has helped improve SPM candidates’ academic performance — apparent through the State Grade Average that climbs year after year.
