SHAH ALAM, May 17 — The police detained a 75-year-old man believed to be linked to a hit-and-run incident involving three pedestrians at Jalan Pekan Baru, Bandar Baru Klang, on Friday (May 15).
North Klang police chief ACP S. Vijaya Rao said the senior citizen was arrested at 11.40am yesterday following information received from the public over the incident, which left two people dead and another seriously injured.
“The suspect is currently being detained and will be remanded for further investigation. Checks also found that the elderly man has no criminal or narcotics record,” he said in a statement today.
Vijaya also urged those with information on the case to contact the nearest police station or traffic investigating officer Insp Ahmad Fadzli Abdullah at 017-5843860.
Yesterday, he said two sisters died while a 17-year-old teenager was injured after a sport utility vehicle crashed into three pedestrians in a suspected hit-and-run incident on May 15.
The deceased were locals aged 57 and 62, while the injured teenager is the child of one of the victims.
