Cops seek lorry driver in fatal Seri Kembangan hit-and-run

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — The police are looking for a lorry driver and witnesses to help investigate a hit-and-run accident that killed a 65-year-old man in Jalan Desa Serdang, Seri Kembangan, on Saturday (May 9).

Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the incident happened at 9pm and involved a white bonded lorry and a Honda Wave motorcycle ridden by the victim.

Initial investigations found that the lorry turned into a junction of the main road in a negligent manner, and the victim, who was coming from the opposite direction, was unable to avoid the vehicle and grazed it.

"The victim fell onto the roadway and was found by passers-by before being rushed to the Serdang Hospital for treatment," he said in a statement.

The victim was pronounced dead yesterday from severe head injuries.

Naazron added that CCTV footage from a nearby factory confirmed the collision, but the lorry's registration number could not be identified.

Members of the public with information regarding the incident are urged to contact the investigating officer Insp Mohd Raziman Rasid at 019-4565502. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
