SHAH ALAM, May 15 — Air Selangor has cut off illegal water connections at two premises in Klang in an enforcement operation aimed at curbing water theft.
The operation was carried out jointly with the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) and also involved officers from the Sabah Water Department, who were invited by SPAN.
Air Selangor said in a Facebook post that a total of 24 officers from its headquarters and regional offices took part in the operation.
According to the utility company, inspections at the two locations found that water supply connections had been made illegally.
“Air Selangor has acted to permanently cut the connections and issued compensation notices for water loss to the premises owners,” it said.
Air Selangor said illegal connections and water theft are offences under the Water Services Industry Act 2006 (WSIA).
It added that the continuous enforcement operations reflect its commitment to ensuring a sustainable water supply for consumers in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
“These ongoing enforcement operations underscore Air Selangor’s continued commitment to safeguarding a sustainable water supply for users,” it said.
