KPDN Selangor busts diesel smuggling syndicate in Klang raid

SHAH ALAM, May 14 — The Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has busted a suspected diesel diversion operation following a raid on a premises in Pandamaran, Klang, yesterday.

State enforcement chief Mohd Hanizam Kechek said the joint operation with police at about 1 pm also led to the arrest of three local men believed to be a driver, assistant and caretaker of the premises.

He said initial checks found that all three suspects failed to produce valid documents for the possession and storage of scheduled controlled goods, namely diesel.

“The case involves the seizure of about 25,000 litres of fuel suspected to be diesel, with an estimated value of RM119,000.

“The total value of seized items, including equipment and vehicles, is estimated at RM328,000,” he said in a statement today.

According to him, all seized items have been taken to the Selangor KPDN exhibit storage facility for further action.

Hanizam said initial investigations found the premises was allegedly being used as an illegal and suspicious diesel storage site.

He added that enforcement officers also discovered rubber hoses used for fuel transfer, skid tanks, tanker lorries and a bonded lorry fitted with a 1,000-litre tank at the rear of the vehicle.

“The three men, aged under 40, were detained to have their statements recorded, and the case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961, read together with Regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations,” he said.

He stressed that KPDN would not compromise with any party violating laws related to controlled and subsidised goods.

Any complaints regarding controlled goods abuse can be channelled via KPDN’s WhatsApp line at 019-848 8000, the Ez Adu KPDN application, the hotline at 1-800-886-800, or the KPDN e-complaints portal.
