SHAH ALAM, Aug 5 — The state government has made significant progress in reducing flood issues in Batu Tiga, with a 60 per cent reduction in just one year.
Batu Tiga assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid Haron said addressing flood issues in his constituency has been his top priority since he was elected on August 12 last year.
He said since then, flooding in four out of seven hotspots has been mitigated with catchment ponds, water pumps, and flood walls.
“(Flood issues) in two areas have been resolved, and solutions for the others are under discussion. In Kampung Kebun Bunga, we installed a water pump, while in Padang Jawa, we built a catchment pond and added a water pump,” he told Selangorkini.
Danial, 38, is one of the new Pakatan Harapan assemblymen who won a seat in last year’s state polls.
He secured 29,064 votes, defeating former women, family, and community development minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun and Muda candidate Syaidiyah Izzati Nur Razak Maideen.
Danial meanwhile said he will open a free e-sports training centre to explore young talent.
He said the training centre, located next to the Batu Tiga community service centre in Section 16, is being renovated and will open soon.
“We are preparing a space for youth to play by adding a unit next to the service centre, which is expected to be ready in two months.
“Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the facility. I have also proposed opening a training centre and have been in contact with the Selangor Red Giants Esports and several other teams,” he added.
