SEPANG, May 27 — A total of 100 land operators from the Orang Asli community in Kampung Bukit Baja, Dengkil, have received compensation of up to RM200,000 for cultivated land under a relocation programme carried out by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said they had previously received an initial 10 per cent payment in January, while the latest payout covered compensation for cultivated land.

“The assessment is being carried out in stages, and there may be two or three more payment handovers after this,” he said after the cheque presentation ceremony for land operators from Kampung Orang Asli Bukit Baja at the PKNS Cyber Valley Gallery yesterday.

Borhan added that the evaluation process considered the size of the cultivated land and the length of time residents had lived in the area to ensure fair and reasonable compensation.

“As usual, we are taking into account the interests of the Orang Asli community as best as possible based on the extent of land they cultivated and how long they have stayed in the area,” he said.

Each family also received a resettlement package comprising a 1,000-square-foot detached house, RM100,000 in cash assistance and RM7,000 in relocation aid.

"Recipients were also eligible for crop compensation based on PKNS assessments, with payouts reaching up to RM200,000," Borhan said.
