New Uptown Shah Alam awaiting CCC before opening

SHAH ALAM, May 11 – The opening of the new Uptown Shah Alam complex in Section 24 is still pending as the development awaits its Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC).

The Star reported that its developer and operator, the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), said the project is currently undergoing the required approval process before traders can be relocated to the new site.

Despite this, preparations for the move are already underway, with existing Uptown Shah Alam traders participating in a ballot session on April 28 to determine their respective lot placements.

The upcoming two-storey complex is set to accommodate around 400 traders, comprising 440 retail units and 20 food stalls.

PKNS said the development adopts a “Modern Bugis” architectural concept to create a more systematic and comfortable environment than the existing open-air bazaar.

Among the facilities provided are over 300 parking bays, lifts, escalators, public toilets, surau, as well as a stage and communal areas for programmes and activities.

The complex will also incorporate sustainability features, including rainwater harvesting, natural ventilation, dedicated waste-management systems for food vendors, and landscaped green spaces.

It added that the project forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance Shah Alam’s urban landscape while strengthening opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

Operating for more than a decade along Persiaran Sultan, the complex is expected to further boost the area’s attractiveness as a commercial and leisure hub, in line with the state government’s efforts to support tourism and local economic growth.

Meanwhile, the Shah Alam City Council said access to the site via Persiaran Sultan and a new route through Jalan Pudina 24/42 will only be opened after the CCC is obtained and final inspections are completed.

As such, the relocation process and official opening of Uptown Shah Alam have yet to be finalised.
