SHAH ALAM, May 22 — Upgrading works on the motorcycle lane along the Federal Highway FT002, covering a 48km two-way stretch, are expected to be completed by August.
State executive councillor for infrastructure Dato’ Izham Hashim said the project, under Rolling Plan 5 (RP-5) of the 12th Malaysia Plan, involves an allocation of RM20 million.
He said the project has currently reached 43 per cent physical progress, covering a 7km stretch in Klang district and 41km in Petaling district.
“I, together with Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, rode motorcycles along the route to inspect the implementation of the infrastructure upgrading works.
“The main scope of the project includes repairing road surfaces at selected locations, upgrading tunnel areas, improving drainage systems and repairing drains,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
He added that the project also involves replacing road barriers, as well as trimming and cutting trees in certain areas to ensure a safer route.
Izham said bridge railings are also being repaired, while additional warning and directional signboards are being installed to improve user comfort.
According to him, a total of 800 solar-powered lights will be installed along the route to enhance safety, particularly for motorcyclists.
He expressed hope that the project would help reduce accident risks while providing better facilities for users of the motorcycle lane along the Federal Highway.
Also present during the inspection were Shah Alam MP Azli Yusof, Batu Tiga state assemblyman Danial Al Rashid, and Subang Jaya state assemblywoman Michelle Ng Mei Sze.
