SHAH ALAM, May 21 — The first phase of Selangor's stimulus package that was announced by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin last month will officially roll out on June 15, said Selangor State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin.
The state government will continue to strengthen the implementation of the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package to safeguard public welfare, ensure industrial continuity, and maintain the state’s economic stability.
"Among the Phase One initiatives, which will begin on June 15, are Jualan Ehsan Rahmah, the KitaSelangor vouchers, public transport subsidies, agricultural sector support assistance, empowerment of Selangor cooperative entrepreneurs, and the Selangor Food Warehouse initiative,” he said.
Fadzli, who is the Selangor Steering Committee and Special Task Force on Managing the West Asia Crisis’s acting chairman, said they also expect current global uncertainty caused by the conflict to persist until 2027.
"As such, all departments, agencies, and state-owned entities are urged to enhance preparedness, practise prudent spending, and strengthen coordination to ensure continued economic stability in the state.
"The state government remains committed to monitoring current developments and ensuring that all measures taken directly benefit the people while continuously strengthening the state’s economic resilience,” he said in a statement after chairing the Steering Committee and Special Task Force’s first meeting at the State Secretariat Building today.
Others present include Universiti Selangor pro-chancellor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim, AMMB Holdings Bhd non-executive director Datuk Mohamed Rafique Merican Mohd Wahiduddin Merican, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Malaysian Inclusivity, Development, and Advancement Institute director Tan Sri Noor Azlan Ghazali, and Petronas Strategic Research Department head Aizal Baharuddin.
During the meeting, the Selangor Research Institute also presented an analysis of the state’s current economic position, including the potential impact of the crisis on the cost of living, industrial sectors, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Fadzli added that they view the current developments in West Asia seriously, as they could affect global and domestic economies, including supply chains, commodity prices, industrial sectors, investment flows, and the people's well-being.
In this regard, the government has taken proactive steps through comprehensive, integrated coordination that covers risk monitoring, economic mitigation, supply chain security, and strategic communication.
Previously, on April 16, Amirudin announced Phase One of the stimulus package valued at RM131 million, aimed at strengthening the state’s economic resilience amid global uncertainties, which he said would roll out in June.
Among others, the state is introducing the Kita Selangor Voucher, providing RM100 monthly aid for six months to 50,000 households, while an additional RM5 million will be allocated for the Jelajah Ehsan Rahmah programme, which will be held monthly across all state constituencies.
To strengthen food supply reserves, RM50 million will be allocated for the Selangor Food Warehouse, and a further RM25 million has been earmarked for farmers, fishermen, livestock breeders, and aquaculture operators to support food producers affected by rising fuel costs.
To promote public transport usage, RM30 in monthly support for 50,000 residents over six months will be provided to offset commuting costs for demand-responsive transit vans, buses, and trains.
Further support will also be extended to MSMEs, especially in the retail sector, with RM6 million channelled through KoHIJRAH to help cooperatives manage operational and inventory costs.
Meanwhile, a free breakfast programme will be introduced through Selangor’s 12 local authorities, providing free meals to students in all 873 schools in the state beginning in August.
