JOHOR BAHRU, May 18 — The government will discuss a proposal to raise the Budi MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) quota for delivery riders to 250 litres at the National Economic Action Council meeting tomorrow.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the matter would be carefully reviewed to safeguard the riders’ welfare, as the current monthly limit of 200 litres for delivery riders was the same as the rate for normal usage.
“I will bring the matter up for discussion at this Tuesday’s meeting. Because they get 200 litres, the same as us, RON95 only 200 litres.
“So I said, I will remind Fahmi (Datuk Fahmi Fadzil), we will find a way to at least raise it by 50 litres, to 250 litres,” he said during his speech at a gathering with Johoreans at the Taman Desa Mutiara People’s Housing Project open hall in Tebrau yesterday.
He added that he proposed the suggestion himself after meeting with and listening to delivery riders regarding the current quota limit.
In other developments, Anwar also announced an immediate allocation of RM1 million for repairs at the Taman Desa Mutiara People’s Housing Project after listening to complaints raised by the residents’ committee.
“I approve RM1 million first … at least for what’s pressing. If anything is broken, doors and such, we will repair them,” he said.
He also instructed that non-functioning toilets at Sekolah Bukit Mutiara be repaired immediately after the matter was raised by residents during the event.
Anwar said the government’s ability to channel infrastructure aid and maintain RON95 prices at RM1.99 per litre under BUDI95, which he described as among the lowest in the world, was the result of political stability, good diplomatic ties and close cooperation between the federal and state governments.
