KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 — The retail price of RON97 remains at RM4.90 per litre, while unsubsidised RON95 and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia each rise by five sen for the period from tomorrow to Wednesday (May 13).
The Finance Ministry (MOF) said the retail price of unsubsidised RON95 is set at RM4.02 per litre, up from RM3.97 previously, while diesel in Peninsular Malaysia has risen to RM5.17 per litre, up from RM5.12 last week.
During the same period, the government maintains targeted subsidised prices for the public and certain sectors, including RON95 at RM1.99 per litre; diesel in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan at RM2.15 per litre; the Subsidised Petrol Control System at RM2.05 per litre; and the Subsidised Diesel Control System at RM2.15 per litre.
It said that the price adjustment is based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism formula, which accounts for the average price from the previous week.
"Petroleum prices remain above US$100 per barrel because the West Asia conflict remains unresolved.
"This situation is also creating global supply constraints for crude oil and petroleum products, and the problem is becoming more acute as production and refining facilities in the region suffer damage," the MOF said in a statement today.
Therefore, the MADANI government calls on the public to continue using fuel prudently to help safeguard the nation's supply stability.
