SHAH ALAM, May 11 — The Selangor State Executive Council has approved the Selangor Disabled Persons Policy 2026-2030 as part of efforts to strengthen the rights and inclusivity of the disabled community.
State executive councillor for women's empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the approval of the policy last week was the result of continuous efforts by various parties in championing the interests of the disabled community.
“Alhamdulillah (God be praised), it has been approved. The struggle to empower the rights and inclusivity of disabled persons has not been a short journey. It has taken years of effort, voices, and hopes, and has finally borne fruit.
“InsyaAllah (God willing), we will continue moving forward with determination to make Selangor a truly inclusive state,” she said in a Facebook post yesterday.
Previously, Anfaal said the policy places emphasis on infrastructure development, in line with the state government’s efforts to expand access and equal opportunities for disabled persons.
The policy is not solely focused on welfare, but also serves as a guideline for agencies and local authorities in planning more inclusive development.
In January, the Selangor Disability Action Council's chairman Danial Al-Rashid Haron said the policy outlines five strategic pillars covering both short- and long-term goals.
The five pillars encompass quality of life and equality; education and lifelong development; productivity and economic development; accessibility and universal design; and governance and advocacy for disabled persons.
