MBI, SD Guthrie sign deal to build aerospace hub in Sepang

SHAH ALAM, April 28 — Selangor is planning to build an aerospace hub in Sepang to empower regional economic transformation under the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (IDRISS), said State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin.

He added that the strategic project will be implemented under a collaboration between Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, and SD Guthrie Bhd, and said the development will involve a 10.1sqkm area in Ladang Sepang near KLIA Aeropolis.

“With institutional capabilities and industry expertise, this initiative is expected to provide integrated aerospace capabilities backed by smart and sustainable infrastructure.

“This project was formulated to support high-value industries, including logistics, as part of a wider, more diverse economic ecosystem,” he said at a press conference after a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between MBI and SD Guthrie at Courtyard by Marriott Setia Alam here today.

Fadzli also said the hub would comprise an integrated industrial park equipped with commercial components and a residential area.

He added that the project would drive long-term economic growth and become a main investment destination, in line with the First Selangor Plan’s (RS-1) objectives.

“This will complete the next growth phase of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and cement the state’s draws for global investors.

“This measure is also set to create over 32,000 jobs by 2030 thanks to integrated industrial development,” Fadzli said.
