SABAK BERNAM, Apr 27 — Pantai Bumi Hijau here has the potential to become a new recreational and tourism destination through a phased upgrading project with an estimated total cost of RM1.78 million.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the plan involves development on six acres of government land for phase one and four acres for phase two, focusing on beautifying the coastline and upgrading existing facilities.
“The state government sees strong potential in Pantai Bumi Hijau to be developed into a more organised recreational and tourism destination, while adding value to the tourism sector in Sabak Bernam.
“This development plan not only focuses on physical aspects and facilities, but also considers long-term benefits for the local community through economic and entrepreneurial opportunities,” he said in a Facebook post.
Amirudin said proposed developments include caravan and camping sites, retail stalls or kiosks, the construction of an iconic sculpture, as well as a jetty platform to support tourism activities.
He added that other planned facilities include pedestrian walkways, a centralised parking area, public toilets, a surau, a suspension bridge and a viewing tower to offer a more engaging experience for visitors.
“With phased implementation and careful planning, we are confident this area can become a new attraction that offers a different experience to visitors while strengthening the state’s tourism competitiveness,” he said.
He added that the plan also involves enhancing the beach landscape and introducing new attractions such as a floating market concept, which has the potential to become a unique draw in the area.
“The development approach not only focuses on physical beauty, but also aims to build a comprehensive tourism ecosystem by integrating natural elements, recreational activities and economic opportunities for the local community,” he said.
