AMPANG JAYA, Sept 14 — The Selangor Apartment Assistance Grant has finally resolved long-standing problems faced by strata residents, including leaking roofs and faulty lifts.
Mawar Block Apartments advisor Cheng Kok Wah, 44, said it enabled full roof repair works to be carried out after a very long wait.
“Previously, whenever it rained, water would seep in, forcing residents to use buckets to collect it,” he said after the grant presentation ceremony in conjunction with the Selangor Strata Rewang Programme organised by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council at Dewan MPAJ Lembah Jaya yesterday.

Cheng added that complaints from residents had decreased significantly after the repair works were completed within two months.
Meanwhile, Kasturi Apartment chairman Rozilah Ramli, 60, said the long-standing lift problem would soon come to an end.
“I have lived here for over 25 years and have been waiting a long time for this lift. Alhamdulillah (God be praised), this assistance is very helpful, especially for senior citizens here to live more comfortably,” she said.
Rozilah also hopes that repair works on the rubbish house and the nearly collapsed fence at the apartment can be carried out soon.

At the event, certificates of appreciation were also presented to Joint Management Bodies (JMB) and Management Corporations (MC), which contributed to the success of the two-day programme.
MC Desa Lembah Permai Apartments chairman Mohammad Isa Salbin, 71, said the recognition proved that their efforts all this while had not been in vain.
“We are grateful that all our hard work has been appreciated by the Selangor Housing Board,” he said.
