KLANG, Sept 2 — The Selangor government is looking to expand its anti-bullying awareness campaign, targeting both schools and local communities.
State executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the Selangor Youth Movement (PeBS), Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS), community leaders, village heads, and council members will help run the campaign.
“We have mobilised PeBS at the state level, including requesting related agencies such as WBS, community leaders, village heads, and council members to jointly drive the anti-bullying campaign in their respective communities.
“The campaign will be carried out in stages. We are asking them to organise programmes from the grassroots level to raise public awareness, especially in schools, about the dangers of bullying,” he told Media Selangor.
Najwan said the culture of bullying must be rejected as it not only undermines school structures but also causes long-term trauma and psychological effects to the victims.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that Selangor will monitor bullying issues in schools, particularly in boarding schools under the management of the state government.
He stressed that there will be no tolerance for bullying as it can have severe psychological and physical effects and may even cost lives.
