SABAK BERNAM, Sept 1 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has pledged to personally monitor development projects in the state’s northern corridor to ensure they run smoothly and benefit local residents.
He stressed that growth must not be confined to major cities, but extended to rural areas as well.
“We are not only focusing on Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya, but also northern Selangor, including Sabak Bernam, Tanjung Karang and Kuala Selangor,” he said when officiating the Selangor-level Traditional Village Merdeka Expo 2025 at the Sungai Besar Stadium here yesterday.
Among the key projects highlighted is the Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabak Bernam), which is expected to boost the local economy, along with the proposed new rail link to Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor.
Amirudin said these initiatives would allow locals to work in Kuala Lumpur while continuing to live in their hometowns with their families.
“This is what a responsible government does. We are not only looking at what has been completed yesterday, but planning for the next 30 years.”
At the same event, Amirudin announced plans to upgrade the Sungai Besar Stadium at a cost of RM2 million to RM3 million, including the installation of running tracks and facilities for sports tournaments.
“We want to ensure Sungai Besar Stadium is not just used for small-scale events like chess, but capable of hosting various other competitions.”
He added that the state would conduct visits to all parliamentary constituencies in Selangor between September of this year and 2027 to review the progress of all ongoing projects.
“We are planning for the next 30 years, preparing for Malaysia’s 100th anniversary. Perhaps, we may not be here then, but the nation must be better,” he said.
