SABAK BERNAM, April 25 — The Selangor government’s long-awaited delivery of the Rumah Idaman Qaseh development came to an emotional close today when 147 homebuyers received their keys.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the project, which was launched in 2013, faced numerous setbacks that eventually led to it being classified as an abandoned project. Its issues were so severe that they were brought before the Selangor Committee on Competency, Accountability, and Transparency (SELCAT).

Speaking at the key handover ceremony today, Amirudin said resolving the deadlock on this project has been a priority for him since he took office.

“This administration is committed to ending the nightmare of abandoned housing projects that burden the people.

“Today’s success proves the Selangor government’s dedication to ensuring our citizens have access to comfortable, quality, and affordable homes,” Amirudin told a press conference after the key handover ceremony in Taman Air Manis today.

The revival of the project was made possible through a strategic collaboration between the Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB) and Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, to facilitate first-time homeownership.

The development, situated on a 10ha site, features a mix of 147 terraced and semi-detached houses.

Additionally, the site includes 26 units of double-storey shoplots intended to stimulate the local economy.

To foster a vibrant community, the area is equipped with amenities including a playground, jogging track, surau, and a kindergarten.

Amirudin emphasised that the state would continue to strengthen public-private partnerships to tackle similar issues and expand homeownership opportunities for first-time homebuyers across Selangor.

“The state government will continue to strengthen this strategic engagement to build more affordable housing projects for the people,” he said.
