SHAH ALAM, March 2 — The Football Association of Selangor's Women’s Super League Best Young Player Qaseh Rania is set to sign a three-year contract with European football giants VFL Wolfsburg in August.
Her father Khairul Najib Ibrahim said that visa and permit arrangements for Qaseh have been finalised, with the assistance of VFL Wolfsburg Malaysia.
“The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will support Rania’s training in preparation for her move to Germany. A meeting was held with FAM’s Women’s Football Committee chairman Datuk Suraya Yaacob and the Women’s Football Unit head Soleen Al-Zou’bi yesterday.
“My daughter is also currently learning the German language at the German-Malaysian Institute in Bangi to facilitate communication, before heading to Europe in August,” he said when contacted.
Menteri Besar Selangor (Pemerbadanan) or MBI Foundation's head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor expressed pride in the achievements of the former MBSJ FC player.
“MBI Foundation was the first agency to support Rania when no one else recognised her talent at the time.
“We also helped her secure a place to study the German language at GMI Bangi, providing support not only physically and mentally but also in terms of communication,” he said.
The MBI Foundation has been supporting Rania’s talent development since 2020, including sponsoring RM15,000 for her training programme with NK Osijek (Croatian League 1) in 2022.
At the age of 13, a video of the SMK Puchong student scoring a goal from a free kick went viral on social media, sparking widespread attention, especially as she was playing alongside a boys' team at the time.
