SHAH ALAM, April 23 — The number of pupils attending remedial classes in the state has declined to around 17,000 this year, compared with 25,000 last year.
Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI's chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the Didik Kasih Programme (PDK) has been identified as one of the factors contributing to this positive development.
“We have been informed that the number of Year Two to Year Six pupils across the state enrolled in remedial classes has decreased from 25,000 to 17,000 this year.
“This shows that the state government’s intervention measures through the provision of PDK modules, along with initiatives by the Education Ministry via co-curricular activities, are having a clear impact,” he said.
Azri was speaking to Media Selangor after the handover ceremony of the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme (PTRS) and PDK 2026 modules for the Petaling Perdana district at SMK Bandar Sunway today.

Earlier, 26,572 Form Four and Form Five students in the district received PTRS modules, while 3,128 remedial pupils from Year Two to Year Six received PDK modules.
He added that 45 secondary schools and 92 primary schools in Petaling Perdana received the modules today.
“These modules are provided free of charge as part of the state government’s efforts to ensure that no student is left behind and continues to receive support.
“We hope this initiative will help facilitate the smooth running of the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examinations and reduce the number of pupils requiring remedial classes,” Azri said.
