Different views between Keadilan, Umno youth wings normal — MB

SHAH ALAM, July 15 — Differing views between Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) and Umno’s youth wings on political issues is normal as long as it does not affect cooperation within the Unity Government.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said it is normal for youth to voice differing opinions on an issue, as many see the wing as aggressive representatives of their parties.

“For youth levels, this is normal… youth need to be aggressive, move ahead, and represent the front lines of the party.

“I’m convinced the differing views are a blessing that can bring about something good, as long as it does not deviate from the basis and framework of the Unity Government,” he said when met after presenting appointment letters to 373 village heads here today.

He was commenting on the recent difference in opinion of Keadilan Youth chief Adam Adli Abd Halim and Umno Youth chief Akmal Saleh about Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul’s decision on six ex-Bersatu MPs who declared support for the Unity Government.

Amirudin expressed hope that both youth chiefs would not continue discussing internal party matters out in the open.

“To have a little bit of differing views is fine, maybe between them there are different opinions, that’s okay, but if there is time to discuss it internally, let’s do it properly, as it’s an internal matter,” the Keadilan vice-president said.
