JAKARTA, June 9 — Indonesia plans to develop an oil palm plantation in the Boven Digoel regency of the South Papua province, to strengthen economic resilience and energy independence, according to its Defence Ministry.

JAKARTA, June 30 — Indonesia's parliament passed on Thursday legislation to create three new provinces in its underdeveloped region of Papua, a move critics fear could undermine the standing of the area's indigenous population and threaten special autonomy powers.
