JAKARTA, April 30 — Tens of millions of Indonesian Muslims are expected to travel back to their hometowns to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the coming days, with traffic jams of up to 10 kilometres already starting to form on some routes out of the capital Jakarta.

JAKARTA, March 24 — Indonesia will lift a ban on domestic travel during the Muslim holiday season of Eid al-Fitr in early May, President Joko Widodo said on Wednesday, after banning the annual tradition for two years during the pandemic.

JAKARTA, May 6 — The Indonesian government has decided to ban mudik (balik kampung), the annual mass exodus from cities to ancestral villages and towns ahead of Aidilfitri, starting from today to 17 May this year.
