Dewan Rakyat sitting to proceed as scheduled on June 22 — Speaker’s office

KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — The Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, scheduled to begin on June 22, will proceed according to the set calendar, according to the Office of Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.

“As of now, there are no changes to the Dewan Rakyat sitting schedule as set out in the official Parliamentary calendar,” the office said when confirming the matter to Bernama today.

Based on the schedule on the Parliament portal, sitting will run for 16 days from June 22 to July 16.

The first meeting of the current Dewan Rakyat session ended on March 3 after a 20-day sitting.

Earlier, rumours circulated that the Dewan Rakyat sitting would be cancelled to make way for elections in several peninsular states.

On Monday, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the immediate dissolution of the 56-seat Johor State Legislative Assembly.

And yesterday, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun announced the 36-seat Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly to be officially dissolved today with the assent of Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
