SHAH ALAM, June 5 — International investor confidence in Malaysia remains strong, with global technology company AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik Aktiengesellschaft (AT&S) positioning the country as one of its main production hubs worldwide.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this was reflected during his meeting with AT&S chief executive officer Dr Michael Mertin yesterday to discuss the latest developments in the company’s operations in Kulim, Kedah.
In a Facebook post, he said AT&S Malaysia currently employs about 2,700 local workers.
According to Anwar, Malaysia is one of the company’s key production hubs alongside Austria, China and India, reflecting the continued confidence of global investors in the country’s capabilities and competitiveness.
“AT&S is among the global leaders in the production of high-value integrated circuit (IC) substrates and printed circuit boards, while also developing advanced connectivity technologies that support various strategic industries, including mobile devices, automotive, aerospace, medical, industrial and high-performance computing for artificial intelligence (AI) applications,” he said.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, said the government would continue to provide clear and consistent support for high-quality investments that strengthen Malaysia’s position in the global semiconductor value chain.
He said high-impact investments such as these not only drive growth in the country’s technology sector but also create more high-skilled employment opportunities for Malaysians.
“The confidence shown by international investors such as AT&S reflects the country’s political stability, prudent economic management and the clarity of the MADANI Government’s policies,” he said.
