SHAH ALAM, June 4 — Selangor is continuing efforts to expedite land gazettement for Orang Asli villages in Petaling district to ensure the community’s rights and welfare, said state executive councillor for Orang Asli and minority affairs Papparaidu Veraman.
He explained that a meeting he chaired today covered coordinated actions between various agencies.
“Among the areas discussed were Kampung Orang Asli Bukit Bandaraya (Air Kuning), Bukit Lanjan (Desa Temuan and Desa Riang), Sungai Rasau Hilir and Sungai Rasau Hulu.
“The discussion also went into land statuses, including developed areas, freehold land, areas under gazettement applications, and suggestions for new areas for future generations’ needs,” Papparaidu said in a Facebook post today.
The meeting, held at the Petaling District and Land Office (PDT), included representatives from the Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA), Selangor Land and Mines Office (PTGS), Selangor Forestry Department (JPNS), and Petaling PDT.
The Banting assemblyman also said the meeting covered land reserve status, public facilities, land surveying and mapping by licensed surveyors, and approvals involving JPNS.
He added that the state government will ensure expedited land gazettement with close inter-agency cooperation, especially when it involves forest reserve areas.
Papparaidu expressed hope that follow-up actions agreed upon during the meeting would be swiftly executed to ensure comprehensive, sustainable solutions in the interest of the Orang Asli community in Petaling district.
