SABAK BERNAM, June 4 — The first initiative under the RM131 million Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package was officially rolled out today, with over 14,000 farmers, crop growers, fishermen, livestock breeders, and aquaculture operators across the state set to benefit from various assistance.
State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim said the aid is intended to help industry players cope with rising operating costs, ensure the continuity of food production, and strengthen Selangor’s food security.
It includes cash assistance for paddy farmers, fertiliser support for crop growers, fuel subsidies for fishermen, and feed assistance for livestock breeders and aquaculture operators.
“This is the first initiative under the Resilience Package to be officially launched. Most of the other initiatives are expected to begin later this month. For fishermen, we are providing an additional RM300 a month for the next six months through petrol and diesel subsidies.
“For padi farmers, we are giving RM500 per hectare in cash assistance,” he told the media after the initiative’s launch ceremony today.
During the event, the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah presented the assistance to selected recipients as part of the Gagasan Rumpun Selangor 2.0 programme.

Izham added that the assistance package would benefit approximately 14,131 recipients and that the support measures were designed to reduce the burden on agricultural players and ensure that food production activities remain uninterrupted.
“Our objective is to help farmers continue their agricultural activities by reducing the burden of increasing operating costs, so that food production and food security can be maintained,” he said.
The distribution of the assistance would begin immediately following the launch, with recipients collecting aid through their respective district agriculture offices.
Apart from direct assistance to industry players, the state government has increased the allocation for the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah programme by RM5 million, bringing the total allocation to RM10 million this year.
Izham noted that Selangor is also strengthening its Selangor Food Warehouse initiative through a RM50 million allocation to increase stockpiles of essential food items, including rice, chicken, fish, beef, and cooking oil.
On April 16, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced Phase One of the stimulus package to strengthen Selangor’s economic resilience amid global uncertainties.
Under the plan, the state government will, among other things, distribute RM100 Kita Selangor vouchers to 50,000 households for six months, while free meals will be provided to students in 873 schools statewide from August onwards.
