SHAH ALAM, June 4 — The Royal Malaysia Police has arrested a wanted organised crime suspect during a special operation known as Op Lima.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said the suspect, a 46-year-old Malaysian man, was a member of the organised crime group known as Geng TR, which has been actively involved in violent crimes and drug-related activities around Selangor since 2021.
"The suspect was arrested on June 3 based on an arrest warrant issued by the Kuala Selangor Magistrate’s Court on April 17. He was also the subject of an Interpol Red Notice issued on May 7.
"The suspect was apprehended with the cooperation of Indian and Thai authorities while travelling on a flight from Chennai, India, to Bangkok, Thailand, before being brought back to Malaysia,” he said in a statement today.
Kumar added that the suspect is being investigated under Section 130V of the Penal Code for being a member of an organised criminal group, which carries a prison sentence of not less than 5 years and not more than 20 years upon conviction.
He is scheduled to be charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code at the Shah Alam Sessions Court today.
The suspect also has various criminal records, including murder, armed gang robbery, and causing injury with a weapon.
