KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 — A nine-year-old boy died after he is believed to have fallen from the 13th floor of an apartment in Taman Cahaya, Ampang, yesterday.
Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid said they received information regarding the incident from a woman at 7.45pm after she found the victim unconscious.
“Preliminary investigations found that the boy was believed to have been left alone at home at the time of the incident,” he said in a statement today.
The boy was confirmed dead at the scene by an assistant medical officer from the Ampang Hospital.
Following the incident, the police have recorded statements from five individuals, comprising the boy’s parents and family members, as well as witnesses.
Khairul added that the boy’s body was taken to the Ampang Hospital for a post-mortem to identify the cause of death, and that the case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
