KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, graced the Investiture Ceremony for Federal Awards, Medals, and Honours at Istana Negara today.
Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, was also in attendance at the ceremony, which was held in conjunction with His Majesty’s official birthday celebration.
Their Majesties were welcomed on arrival by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Anwar and Dr Wan Azizah then escorted the King and Queen to the royal dais at Istana Negara grounds, where the royal couple received a royal salute from the Royal Malay Regiment's Main Guard of Honour of the 1st Battalion.
It comprised nine officers and 180 other ranks and was led by Captain Nor Saifullah Mahmad @ Mohammed.
The national anthem Negaraku was played by the RAMD Central Band, as the King’s Royal Standard was hoisted, followed by a 21-gun salute by the 41st Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment (Ceremonial).
Sultan Ibrahim then inspected the Main Guard of Honour before receiving another royal salute, marking the end of the ceremony at the parade ground.
Their Majesties were then accompanied by the Prime Minister and his wife to the Balairung Seri for the 2026 Federal Awards Investiture Ceremony, where awards, medals, and honours were conferred on 144 recipients.
Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, members of the Cabinet, including Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and foreign envoys.
The investiture ceremony was held for the third time under Sultan Ibrahim since His Majesty’s installation as the King on July 20, 2024.
In total, 161 individuals were conferred Federal Awards, Honours, and Medals for 2026 in conjunction with this year’s Official Birthday celebrations of the King.
