AMPANG KAYA, May 30 — The Selangor government has allocated RM6 million for its sacrificial animal donation programme in conjunction with this year’s Aidiladha celebration, benefiting residents across all 56 state constituencies.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the distribution has been expanded to include selected non-governmental organisations and uniformed bodies, enabling more needy groups to benefit from the initiative.
According to him, the Menteri Besar’s Office has also added 200 sacrificial cattle to meet high demand.
“Through this programme, those who are able to contribute can share their sustenance with the less fortunate, allowing more people to experience the blessings of Aidiladha and the sacrificial ritual.
“At the same time, it helps strengthen ties between the community, leaders and institutions involved in making the programme a success,” he said after attending the JKP Zone 12 Sacrificial Programme at the Taman Sri Watan Community Hall here today.
Amirudin said the sacrificial programme is not only about contributing sacrificial animals, but also serves as a platform that brings the community together to cooperate and collectively carry out the religious obligation.
He also expressed gratitude that Muslims in Malaysia are still able to enjoy the freedom to perform the sacrificial ritual openly, unlike in some countries where the practice is constrained by various challenges.
“The korban ritual has become an integral part of our community’s culture, as it not only fulfils a religious obligation but also brings people together in a spirit of cooperation, solidarity and unity.
“We should be grateful that we continue to have the freedom and opportunity to openly uphold and practise the teachings of Islam.”
Previously, state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Datuk Izham Hashim said the programme involved the provision of 800 cattle and 600 goats at a cost of RM6 million.
