GOMBAK, May 27 — Menteri Besar Dato' Amirudin Shari joined the Hari Raya Aidiladha sacrificial ritual by personally slaughtering a cow at Astaka Arena Kampung Klang Gate today.
Also present were his wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhammad and Hulu Kelang state constituency coordinator Juwairiya Zulkifli.
Kampung Klang Gate Baru’s Village Development and Security Committee chairman Mohd Aliff Mohd Safii said three cows were contributed by the Menteri Besar’s Office, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI, and Juwairiya to support the korban programme in the village.
“We feel extremely proud and honoured that the Menteri Besar himself was willing to come down and celebrate the korban ritual together with the residents of Kampung Klang Gate Baru.
“He not only took part in the korban slaughtering process, but also joined the communal cooking activities, mingled, and dined together with the villagers,” he told Media Selangor.
The state government has allocated RM6 million for this year’s Korban Contribution Programme through corporate social responsibility collaboration involving corporate companies and government-linked companies.
Aliff added that the sacrificial meat will be distributed to villagers and underprivileged groups in the surrounding area.
"The programme also strengthened ties between community leaders and residents while fostering the spirit of cooperation and volunteerism among villagers," he said.
Additionally, Amirudin, who is also the Gombak MP, spent time interacting with residents and workers involved in the slaughtering process before joining the communal feast.
Recently, state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato' Izham Hashim said that 800 cows and 600 goats had been prepared, with assurances of high-quality livestock to ensure smooth distribution and maximum benefit for recipients.
