SHAH ALAM, May 26 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has been appointed as its joint election director together with Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, as it prepares for the 16th general election.
He succeeds Nurul Izzah Anwar, who was appointed to the post in June last year.
Keadilan secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said the appointments were agreed upon during the party’s political bureau meeting yesterday to strengthen its election preparedness and coordination at all levels.
“The appointments are part of the party’s strategic restructuring to ensure Keadilan’s election machinery continues to be refined, coordinated, and mobilised more comprehensively at all levels,” she said in a statement today.
Fuziah added that the restructuring is a continuation of groundwork already established by the party, including strengthening election structures, improving coordination between state and branch leadership, and enhancing the use of data, systems and technology in field operations through the TERAS election system.
She said Izzah, who is Keadilan's deputy president, will continue to play a strategic role by focusing on strengthening the party's machinery.
The initiative reflects the party’s investment in grassroots members to strengthen Keadilan in a comprehensive, consistent, and firmly rooted way at all levels.
“Keadilan recognises that the party’s strength does not lie solely in its central leadership but also in the thousands of grassroots members who continue to work, listen, engage with the people, and carry their voices every day,” Fuziah said.
Meanwhile, the prime minister’s political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin has been appointed as Keadilan’s election war room director, and will be assisted by Datuk Ruji Ubi.
Fuziah also noted that the party recorded 5,936 new members between April and May this year.
“Keadilan is now moving into its next phase with the determination to close ranks, strengthen grassroots capabilities, and ensure the entire machinery moves as one focused, organised, and election-ready team,” she said.
