SHAH ALAM, May 21 — The Selangor Platform (PLATS) Masuk Bazar programme recorded RM9.7 million in sales throughout this year’s Ramadan period, an increase compared to the RM7 million achieved last year.
State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the programme, organised in collaboration with Agrobank, recorded 800,000 cashless transactions involving Ramadan bazaars across all local authorities in Selangor.
The Selayang Municipal Council recorded the highest sales value at RM1.9 million, followed by the Shah Alam City Council with RM1.4 million.
“The Sabak Bernam District Council also showed encouraging performance by recording sales of around RM600,000 throughout the Ramadan bazaar period.
“This increase in sales value reflects positive growth as more traders adopt digital and cashless payment systems,” he said.
Najwan was speaking to the media after officiating the Agrobank 2026 Ramadan Bazaar Cashless Transaction Prize presentation ceremony at the Mardhiyyah Hotel today.
First introduced during Ramadan in 2020, PLATS aims to complement the Selangor Digitalisation Agenda ecosystem. A year later, PLATS 2.0 was launched to help traders generate income year-round.
In 2023, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI also introduced the PLATS Masuk Pasar Campaign over a two-month period at 12 selected locations across the state, distributing 20,000 Rahmah Digital Coupons worth RM5 each.
In a related development, the councillor said 200 entrepreneurs from each local authority in Selangor were selected to participate in this year’s U-PLATS programme, conducted through PLATS and the Selangor Youth Community.
“They will be given exposure to skills and the latest marketing methods, including strategies for penetrating social media platforms to help expand their businesses.
“Alhamdulillah (God be praised), we also welcome strategic cooperation from partners such as Agrobank, Yayasan Hijrah Selangor, and the State Economic Planning Unit, which have consistently provided strong support for every entrepreneurship programme organised by the state government,” he said.
