KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 — A Yasin recital and a special prayer in conjunction with the official birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, was held at Masjid Negara today.
The ceremony, which began at 5.30pm, was led by Masjid Negara’s Senior Imam Hassan Al-Fadhli Abdul Rahman to seek well-being and blessings for His Majesty in reigning over the nation.
Also present were Chief of Defence Force Gen Datuk Malek Razak Sulaiman, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Marhamah Rosli, and Deputy Minister of Economy Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah, along with about 500 congregants comprising government officials and members of the public.
Today’s event was part of the programmes lined up in conjunction with His Majesty’s official birthday celebration on June 1.
Among the scheduled events are a Special Khutbah and Friday prayers on Friday (May 29), followed by the royal audience and the investiture ceremony to confer Federal awards, medals, and honours at Istana Negara on June 1, and the Trooping of the Colours ceremony on June 5.
