KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 — National mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei had no trouble advancing to the second round of the Malaysia Masters after defeating Canada's Jonathan Lai-Crystal Lai today.
In action at the Unifi Arena, the world champions were in dominant form, cruising to a straight-sets victory of 21-6, 21-15 in just 24 minutes.
“I think it is a good start for today, and hopefully we can do even better tomorrow,” Chen told the media after the match.
Awaiting the duo in the second round tomorrow are Indonesia’s Amri Syahnawi-Nita Violina Marwah, who defeated India’s Rohan Kapoor-Gadde Ruthvika Shivani 21-16, 20-22, 21-10.
