JOHOR BAHRU, May 17 — The state government has received the review report on the investigation into the gas pipeline explosion incident in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, conducted by eight appointed independent committee members.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the report, prepared by a committee comprising technical experts, academics, and related industry professionals, also presented the investigation findings to Selangor's administration.
It has also been submitted to the Federal government for feedback, as the incident involved several government agencies.
“Our hope is for these findings to be made public and used as a reference for both the present and the future. There may be actions that can be taken by all parties involved, whether local authorities or pipeline owners.
“This is so we can have assurances regarding the safety of Putra Heights and all gas pipeline alignments throughout Selangor,” he said after officiating the Jerayawara Siswa Kita Selangor Southern Zone programme at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Johor yesterday.
In September last year, the state government appointed an independent committee led by the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology's Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Centre senior research fellow Khamarrul Azahari Razak to investigate the explosion incident.
State executive councillor for disaster management Mohd Najwan Halimi said the establishment of the committee was in line with Selangor's commitment to ensuring transparency and prioritising public safety in handling incidents involving critical infrastructure.
The incident on April 1, 2025, resulted in 81 homes being destroyed, with structural damage exceeding 40 per cent; another 81 homes were partially destroyed; 57 were affected but not burnt; and 218 homes — including those in Kampung Tengah, Puchong — were not affected.
