KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 — Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has been appointed as the new Opposition leader in the Dewan Rakyat, replacing Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
In a statement, Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the appointment of the PAS' Kemaman MP was decided at the PN Supreme Council meeting held here today.
Takiyuddin also said the meeting chaired by Samsuri also agreed on the appointment of PN chairmen for each state.
This includes Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as the Selangor PN chairman.
However, the appointment of the PN chairman for Negeri Sembilan has been postponed.
