HYDERABAD, May 12 — Malaysia will participate in the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting held in New Delhi on Thursday and Friday, with Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to arrive in the Indian capital tomorrow, a Malaysian diplomat at the High Commission told Bernama today.
The meeting will be chaired by Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal told a media briefing in New Delhi.
BRICS members will exchange views on “global and regional issues of mutual interest” on Thursday, while Friday will see BRICS ministers and partner country representatives participate in the “BRICS at 20: Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” session, followed by a discussion on “the reforms of global governance and multilateral system”, Jaiswal added.
Malaysia is a partner country of BRICS, whose members comprise original members Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, with Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates joining later.
India will host the group’s leadership summit later this year.
