KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rains, and strong winds expected to affect nearly all states nationwide until 7pm today.
It said the warning covers the entire Kelantan and Johor, as well as the Kuala Lumpur and Labuan Federal Territories.
Other affected areas include Kedah (Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu), and Perak (Larut, Matang dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim).
Similar weather conditions are forecast in Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman), and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan, and Rompin).
The warning also covers Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, and Hulu Langat), and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Jempol, and Tampin).
In Sarawak, the affected areas are expected to include Kuching, Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu (Tatau), Miri (Subis and Beluru), and Limbang.
In Sabah, the warning involves the interior areas (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan), the West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, and Tuaran), as well as Sandakan (Kinabatangan and Sandakan).
