SHAH ALAM, May 8 — A total of 192,179 kg of electronic waste (e-waste) and scheduled waste were seized at Port Klang during a joint enforcement operation under Op Green Shield 29 yesterday.
The operation was led by the Port Klang Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) in cooperation with the Customs Department, Department of Environment (DOE), Sirim and the Port Klang Authority (PKA).
Port Klang MCBA commander Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said 14 containers were inspected during the operation, which was carried out between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm.
He said eight containers were found to contain e-waste weighing 172,009 kg, while another container carried scheduled waste categorised under code SW103 weighing 20,170 kg.

“Overall, the total seizure involving scheduled waste amounted to 192,179 kg,” he said in a statement, adding that the containers would be placed in a secure holding area pending notices from the DOE for re-export purposes.
He said two other containers carrying plastic waste and metal scrap weighing a combined 48,290 kg were not classified as scheduled waste but would be referred to Sirim for further assessment.
According to Nik Ezanee, the local company involved allegedly made a false declaration on the K1 customs form for the shipment, and enforcement action has since been initiated.
He said inspections on containers suspected of carrying prohibited e-waste would continue following the government’s ban on e-waste imports, which came into effect on April 1 under the Customs (Prohibition of Imports) (Amendment) (No 3) Order 2026.
