PETALING JAYA, May 7 — Selangor FC hold a slim advantage heading into the away leg after defeating Vietnamese side Nam Dinh FC 2-1 in the first leg of the 2025/2026 ASEAN Club Championship (ACC) semi-final at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Stadium last night.
The result means the Red Giants, coached by Kim Pan Gon, must at least avoid defeat in the return leg at Thien Truong Stadium in Vietnam next Wednesday to secure their place in the final.
Both teams displayed energetic performances from the opening whistle, but Selangor controlled the match more effectively and created several early chances that tested the visitors’ defence.
Selangor opened the scoring in the 37th minute when Quentin Cheng’s low cross was calmly finished by Chrigor Moraes to put the hosts ahead.
However, Nam Dinh equalised towards the end of the first half through Van Vi Nguyen, sending both teams into the break level at 1-1.
After the restart, Selangor regained their rhythm by increasing the intensity of their attacks, with Moraes once again proving decisive.
The Brazilian striker netted his second goal in the 58th minute with a chip shot after receiving a precise pass from Quentin.
Nam Dinh attempted to mount a comeback through several swift counter-attacks, but Selangor’s defensive line remained disciplined, closing down spaces and absorbing pressure until the final whistle.
