Air Selangor says Sg Rasau WTP Phase 1 to be ready by year end

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 — To meet rising future demand, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd is expected to complete the Sungai Rasau Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Phase One, aimed at increasing Selangor’s water reserve margin, by year end, with a capacity of 700 million litres per day.

Air Selangor chief executive officer Adam Saffian Ghazali said this will be followed by Phase 2 with the same capacity to support growing water needs in the state.

He added that Air Selangor is also strengthening its digitalisation efforts through the Intelligent Command Centre (ICC) to enable faster response to supply disruption complaints.

He also said the Semenyih 2 WTP has been equipped with modern systems to help staff monitor and manage operations more efficiently through digital platforms.

Meanwhile, Adam Saffian said the recognition received by Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) at the Global Water Summit 2025 in Paris, France, last year reflects the company’s capability in managing an efficient and high-performing utility system.

He added that said operational efficiency, particularly in reducing non-revenue water (NRW), was a key factor to the company’s success.

He said Air Selangor reduced its NRW rate from 33 per cent to 26.76 per cent last year, with a target to lower it to 25 per cent by 2030.

“When assessing leading utilities, international bodies look at whether a company operates in line with its objectives.

“For us, achieving 99.96 per cent compliance with Health Ministry standards for water quality is a very high benchmark for the national water industry,” Adam Saffian said on Bernama Radio’s Jendela Fikir programme today.
