SHAH ALAM, May 4 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat has yet to decide on a successor to Negeri Sembilan Datuk Seri Menteri Besar, following a constitutional crisis involving the state’s customary institutions and leadership.
Its vice-president Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the impasse involving the position of the Undang and the Adat Perpatih system must be resolved first before any decisions regarding the state administration are made.
“So far, we extend our thanks and honour to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan for allowing Aminuddin to continue administering the state.
“But the matter is still under discussion because the issues that have arisen must be addressed, whether within the constitution or in the customary affairs of Negeri Sembilan, which I cannot interfere in.
“Thus the matter concerns the existence of the Undang and the position of the Yang di-Pertuan (Besar); only then can the Menteri Besar’s position and the legitimacy of the government be determined,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking to the media after officiating the Selangor State-Level Labour Day Celebration 2026, which was also attended by state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman, at the State Secretariat Building today.

The Selangor Menteri Besar added that Keadilan remains committed to resolving issues related to the state administration with all parties, and hopes Negeri Sembilan's constitutional crisis can be handled prudently.
“This matter must be resolved through consultation with all parties, as provided for in the constitution. We must work together to resolve this issue,” he said.
The political crisis arose following the removal of Datuk Mubarak Dohak as the Undang Luak of Sungai Ujong on April 17.
Subsequently, on April 19, the four Undang Luak declared the deposition of Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar at Balai Undang Luak Sungai Ujong in Seremban.
The Undang Luak are the tetrarchic chieftains who play several important cultural and customary roles in Negeri Sembilan's royal institution, with the most important being the election of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar to the throne.
In a related development last month, 14 elected representatives from Barisan Nasional (BN) also announced their withdrawal of support for Aminuddin, citing a loss of confidence in his leadership as Menteri Besar.
For the record, in the 15th Negeri Sembilan State Election, Pakatan Harapan won 17 seats, followed by BN with 14 seats, while Perikatan Nasional secured five out of the total 36 seats contested.
